Who We Are

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ." – Church Covenant

This first paragraph of the Church Covenant traditionally used in Black Missionary Baptist Churches sets forth clearly the assumptions of the people of the White Rock Baptist Church. We are a people who confess a common faith in the person of Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. We believe in the convicting, enlivening, and enabling work of the Holy Spirit.

We are not ashamed of our faith commitment, but have publicly proclaimed our faith through submission to the believers' baptism. We believe firmly in the nature of the Church as a covenant community - a people who respond to God's offer of Covenant by entering into a covenant bonding (with Him and with each other) that is binding. And we believe that this covenant community known as the Church is sacred in its nature - being in fact the Body of Christ. His work becomes then our work, His way our way, His strength our strength.
