EXPECTATIONS SATISFIED AND STIRRED BY CHRIST’S COMING
We have entered into the season of Advent—the four Sundays preceding Christmas. Christmas is the day the Christian tradition has designated to mark and celebrate the fact that Jesus Christ was born. The season of Advent is the beginning of the Church calendar. Is it not noteworthy that the Church calendar begins in the very month that the secular calendar ends. Just think of the message that this coincidence might bring to us.
As we take note of this overlapping and time here at White Rock, may we order our steps and minds accordingly. By next Sunday all of our auxiliaries/department reports on the endeavors of 2018 and all of our plans/visions for 2019 should have been turned in to me through the Church office.
We are encouraged also to gather for worship on next Sunday at 10 am and assemble again at 3:00 pm to dialogue with the Reverend Dr. Wesley Granberg Michaelson regarding “Faith Future: Ten Challenges reshaping Christianity in the 21st Century”. This is the title of a book by Dr. Michaelson just published. Copies of the book with be available for purchase and autograph at the cost of $15.00.
The Foreign Mission Board of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. will make the afternoon event the kickoff of its Annual Foreign Mission Financial Drive. Other Christian faith bodies have been invited as well.
The discussion will be timely for us because we are now involved in, by the Spirit of God, assessing how we are challenged by the era to give faithful witness to our Christ. Let each member fervently pray daily for receptive openness to the Lord’s revealings and requirings. Pray that we will see and hear the Lord’s Will and will be strengthened in an obedient response to Him.
