“The thing that makes us one is that we are a fellowship of the forgiven. Because we are forgiven we can live in touch with our source of living.”    Sermon: A Fellowship of the Forgiven; Pastor William J. Shaw

As we remember Dr. King we need to recognize that Satan has a way of making us comfortable with what GOD intends to be a challenge.  We can’t honor Dr. King by simply doing a day of service.  We don’t honor Dr. King when we sweep a street and then deny the people who walk on that street the right to vote, or the right to a living wage.  Pastor William J. Shaw

God works in periods of time.  If you look at how God works, he works over extended periods of time…you can see what God has done over the years.  Sermon: Faith Is...! Pastor William J. Shaw

The filling of GOD’s spirit makes us attractive.  But it does more than make us look good and feel good.  It makes us useful….We follow Him for a purpose… To be filled with him is to follow him, to learn of him, to exercise your gifts for him.   Sermon: The Half Finished Job, Pastor William J. Shaw

Word From the Pastor

Mrs. Shaw expresses her deep gratitude for all expressions of joy/goodwill on her birthday.  Among many cards were financial gifts.  Sensing the real and special needs of White Rock, she was moved to “give the gifts back” and so she has contributed the total amount received to the Church.  I am sure you join me in saying “Thanks” to her.

Thanks to the Deacons and other men who provided and served breakfast last Sunday.  This ministry of love has become a part of our Resurrection Sunday Celebration for almost 50 years.  Some of the Lord’s followers came to know Him as “The Risen Lord,” in the breaking of bread. May it ever be so with us—His revealing presence to us in the sharings at the table.

I’m gratefulto all Ministry Leaders who turned in your first report in our movement to renewal and deepening in the Spirit of the Lord as a Church body.  I ask now that you meet me here on Saturday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. in the boardroom when we begin the second phase of our endeavors.  What we do is not just “busy work”. It is a work that we pray will make us more aware of and committed to “the business of our Lord’s work” which He has already begun among us.

The second weekend of May we join in a tribute to all Mothers—first at a Dinner Tribute to them on Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gym.  Then we worship together the next day in the Annual Mother’s Day Services.  Let us give to God the glory for His having gifted us with our Mothers.

Be reminded of the very special Church Music Workshops which will take place here on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May, 16 at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday, May 17 at 9:15 a.m.  All Music Units are expected to participate.  Persons who wish to sing for the Women’s Day Celebration on Sunday, May 18 are invited to attend. The church membership is welcomed/urged to be present at the opening hour of each workshop session.

Women, men, boys and girls—be in attendance at the Women’s Day Celebration at 10:00 a.m. on May 18.  The theme is “Women We Honor You!”  The men will lead the Tributes and Worship Services.

I need not mention that Women’s Day is a day of special financial effort.  Our need is real.  Let each do his/her best to contribute at least the past year’s request of $200. Do more if possible.

Pray fervently that God will be pleased with us as a faith family.  May He bless and keep you.

Joy! We are on in the Lord.
